NAILA’s second mandate pursues two ambitions. The first is to contribute to the constitution of a Tunisian center of excellence in the field of continental water sciences. The second is to include this center in a Mediterranean network of similar centers, with a projection towards the African continent.
The first ambition has been emerging for a few months, with a research consortium project on “intelligent management of water resources” led by the University of Carthage, and in which the Tunisian partners of NAÏLA are involved. The second, in the longer term, will be based on the ongoing Euro-Mediterranean contractual projects with the LMI TREMA (Morocco) and the GDRI O-LIFE (Lebanon), as well as the GDRI ARID within the framework of the tripartite action Latin America Europe Africa.
